CGST Jaipur Unearths GST Evasion of Rs 4.04 crore

A case of misuse of GST exemption given to exporters under GST law has been exposed in Rajasthan by the anti-evasion teams of CGST Jaipur Commissionerate. In the raid conducted over the last two days at two sesame and watermelon seed exporting firms located on Beawar Road in Ajmer, the anti-evasion teams not only exposed GST evasion of Rs 4.4 crore, but the officials also recovered this amount from the exporting firm on the spot.

According to the information received from reliable sources, CGST’s Anti-Evasion team has detected irregularities in the refunds being continuously sought by these two exporter firms registered in the Jaipur Commissionerate. Evasion branch officials received confidential information. After preliminary analysis of the information found it to be correct, and teams of CGST Anti-Evasion Branch officials launched raids at the work sites of these firms on April 3. In this action which lasted for two days, the officials caught evidence of export of Rs 57 crore without adequate documents and falsification of GST of Rs 2.86 crore. Similarly, officials detected irregularities in the goods received by the taxpayer and the tracking of the vehicles transporting the goods could not be recorded. Based on this discrepancy, GST evasion of Rs 1.18 crore was considered certified. The operators of the taxpayer firms also accepted the GST irregularities and deposited the revenue of Rs 4.4 crore with the officials on the spot.

Sources reveal that both these firms were registered in CGST and SGST respectively. Taxpayers in these firms also collected refunds of about Rs 30 crore from CGST and SGST.
