Shops and Establishments Registration-Overview

The Shops and Establishment Registration is governed by the labour department of respective state, and it is obligatory for all business entities which do not fall within the ambit or purview of The Factories Act, 1948.

Most of the state governments have passed their own legislations through the legislature assembly or have adopted some other state government laws on shops and establishment. We are providing professional services in the matters of registration of the shops and establishment and its necessary compliance with various provisions which may be required under the concerned Shops and Establishment Act.

The Shops and Establishment Act lays down state-specific laws which may vary across states. The objective is to regulate, monitor and improve the working conditions and rights of the workers/labourers, like wage payments, leaves, holidays, work hours, perks etc.

If you are a resident of Kolkata and you are running a shop in Kolkata, then you must acquire a license or registration under West Bengal Shop and Establishment Act, 1963.
