The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has raised alerts among the people through a tweet on Thursday. CBIC has cautioned people against sharing personal identity details such as Aadhaar and PAN Card details to anyone without any valid reason. The department has alerted people that these details can be used by criminal offenders to create fake identities which can further be used for GST and Income-tax evasion. CBIC instructs people to refrain from sharing these details.
CBIC tweeted that people are supposed to protect their personal information from getting disclosed in the public domain as these can be illicitly taken advantage of by criminals.
The Goods and Services Tax (GST) officers have investigated and arrested several fake firms that were involved in raising fake invoices. These companies did not supply any actual goods or services although they were enjoying the Input Tax Credit (ITC) benefits.
