The Income-tax department has announced a new update for the taxpayers who have filed their Income-tax return (ITR) files. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has credited refunds worth Rs.1.83lakh-crore to over 2.09 crores taxpayers.
Income tax refunds of Rs.65,938 crores have been credited in 2,07,27,503 cases. According to a tweet by Income Tax India, the department has issued corporate tax refunds worth Rs.1,17,641 crores in 2,30,566 cases.
This includes about 1.70crore refunds that have been made in the assessment year (AY) 2021-22. The refund amount amounts to Rs.34,202.31 crores.
The tweet made by Income Tax India asserts that CBDT has issued refunds worth Rs.1,83,579 crores to more than 2.09 crores taxpayers from 1 April 2021 to 28 February 2022.
The taxpayers are eligible to check the status of the Income-tax refund on the online website https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/oltas/refund-status-pan.html. The individuals can view their refund status 10 days after the refund gets sent by the Assessing Officer of the Income-tax department. To check the refund status, the taxpayers are required to enter their PAN number as well as the assessment year for which the Income Tax Return has been filed.
The ‘Refund Paid’ status is shown in the ‘Tax Credit Statements’ in Form 26AS.
