Three Income Tax Officers have been allegedly accused of sexual assault and of threatening a female subordinate staff in Panaji, Goa on last Saturday. According to the report of Police Inspector Nikhil Palyekar to the IANS, the three Income Tax Inspectors, Manindar Attri from Delhi, Aditya Verma from Rajasthan, and Deepak Kumar from Bengaluru have been booked on Thursday on the suspicion of committing this heinous crime.
Inspector Palyekar has stated that the three Income Tax officers have been booked under Section 354(A), 354(D), 509, and 506(II) read with 34 of the IPC. The police are investigating further into this case and the accused are yet to be arrested due to lack of sufficient proof and evidence.
The victim female subordinate staff has stated in her complaint that the three officers have continuously harassing and sexually assaulting her since February 2022. The police have discovered from their investigation that two of the Income Tax officers have been sexually assaulting the female staff and threatening her to delete her WhatsApp messages. The third officer has been accused of outraging her modesty.
Panaji Police are checking the CCTV footage of the Income Tax office and they have received complaint from this single victim. But they are carrying on with their investigations to find out whether there are other victims of sexual assault who are yet to show up with their complaint.
