India Stock Market Braces for Storm as Trump Policies, China Rebound Lead Investor Interest

India's equity market is also on the decline due to the secular trend of away-from-emergings, most recently in response to Trump's "America First" policies. The policies led to a flight of capital away from India that is compounded still by China's spectacular market rally.

China's economy, driven by stimulus and policy loosening, is attracting investors, while India has the looming threat of tariffs and over-valuations.
The market cap in India has lost over $1 trillion since October 2024, while that of China added $2 trillion in value.

The Hang Seng Index has appreciated by 16% in just one month, while India's Nifty has decreased by over 2%. Foreigners are pouring into China, and stocks like Alibaba and Lenovo have posted positive returns and relatively lower share prices.
All this "Sell India, Buy China" hype has put pressure on India's stock market.
