The total gross GST revenue for April 2023 was Rs 1,87,035 crore, which was 16.8% greater than the total gross GST revenue for March 2023 of Rs 1,60,122 crore.
The gross GST collection in April 2023 reached an all-time high and was $19,495 billion higher than the previous record, which stood at $1,67,540 billion in April 2022. Additionally, official sources reported that gross GST receipts have surpassed the Rs. 1.75 trillion barriers for the first time.
Out of the gross GST collections of Rs 1,87,035 crore, CGST was Rs 38,440 crore, SGST was Rs 47,412 crore, IGST was Rs 89,158 crore (including Rs 34,972 crore collected on import of goods), and cess was Rs 12,025 crore (including Rs 901 crore collected on import of goods), according to data released by the Finance Ministry today (May 14).
The government paid CGST and SGST a total of Rs. 45,864 crores and Rs. 37,959 crores, respectively, from IGST.
According to official data, the combined income for the Centre and the States in April 2023 will be Rs 84,304 crore for the CGST and Rs 85,371 crore for the SGST after normal settlement. The income for April 2023 is 12% more than the income for GST in the same month last year.
Revenues from domestic transactions, including the import of services, increased by 16% in April 2023 compared to the same month in the previous year. 9 crore e-way bills were generated in total in March 2023, an increase of 11% above the 8.1 crore e-way bills generated in February 2023.
The greatest tax collection day ever occurred in April 2023, when 9.8 lakh transactions totalling Rs 68,228 crore were made. On the same day last year, 9.6 lakh transactions amounted to Rs 57,846 crore, the largest single-day payment ever.
