Taiwan Weighted Index Ups 2.79% In Sharp Rise at Taiwan Stock Market

Taiwan Weighted index shot up 2.79 per cent to become the highest during the last thirty days as shares closed higher yesterday at the stock market in Taiwan. The share prices rose further with strong support from sectors, including Oil, Gas & Electricity, Plastics, and Semiconductors.

Of the top gainers, USI Corp (TW:1304) rose by 10%, adding 1.05 points to close at 11.55.
Meanwhile, Anji Technology Co Ltd (TW:6477) jumped 10%, increasing by 3.40 points to settle at 37.40.
Loop Telecommunication International Inc (TW:3025) gained 10% to reach an all-time high of 88.00.

On the negative side of things, the biggest tumble was seen in AzureWave Technologies Inc (TW:3694), which lost by 8.64% or 5.40 points to 57.10.
Goldsun Building Materials Co Ltd (TW:2504) shed 6.98%, going down by 3.30 points to close at 44.00,
while Young Optics Inc (TW:3504) tumbled by 6.72%, closing at 59.70.

Commodities, in the meantime, witnessed minor decreases.
Crude oil was traded at $73.48 per barrel with a fall of 0.11% for February crude oil.
Meanwhile, Brent oil for March delivery traded at $76.28, edging down 0.03%.
February gold futures were traded at $2,655.59 per ounce with an increase of 0.31%.

Currency: The USD/TWD pair edged lower to 32.70 after losing 0.22%.
US Dollar Index Futures declined by 0.09% to 108.00.

Overall, the Taiwan Stock Exchange saw more stocks advancing than declining, signaling investor optimism despite some losses in individual stocks.
