The GCCI jointly with the Bombay Chartered Accountants’ Society (BCAS) completed a four-day inaugural comprehensive study course in GST. The course was conducted on the four Saturdays of this month and ended on February 24.
Addressing participants during the valedictory function, GCCI, President Shrinivas Dempo, said that GST has truly unified India as One Nation, One Tax and One Market.
“GCCI has led the way in embracing taxation changes and playing a pivotal role to ensure effective understanding of the GST law. With GST completing more than six and a half years, it was an appropriate time to launch a comprehensive course on the tax for the trade, industry and professionals in Goa which would not only help in understanding the intricacies of GST but also address the burning issues in GST,” said Dempo.
The study course was attended by 87 participants who included chief financial officers and finance managers from MNCs and MSMEs as well as CAs and tax professionals.
Co-Chair of GCCI Taxation Committee and Course Coordinator CA Yatish Pai Vernekar expressed gratitude to the Bombay Chartered Accountant’s Society for partnering with the Chamber and providing experts from various parts of the country for the course.
Chartered accountants Naresh Seth, Jayesh Gogri and Parimal Kulkarni were the speakers for the last day of the course. The valedictory function was attended by GCCI, taxation committee, chairman Rohan Bhandare. It was compered by Kiran Ballikar, while Sanjay Amonkar proposed the vote of thanks.
