While launching a tirade against the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Union government on Tuesday, November 15, Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee stated that the Union Government has failed to clear off the dues of the states. The CM further added that if the dues are not paid off by the Union Government then it might have to step back from paying Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Addressing a rally in the tribal-dominated district in Jhargram, the West Bengal CM further added that the Union Government must clear off the dues or it must step back from its position and power. She said that the Union Government has not been releasing MGNREGA funds. The Bengal CM raised her voice against the Union Government’s failure, and she asked the tribal community of Jhargram to hit the streets as a sign of protest.
She said that we are not supposed to beg in front of the Central government to take care of our financial dues. “Do we have to beg before the Centre to get our financial dues cleared? They are not releasing MGNREGA funds. The BJP government has to step down from power if it does not clear our dues,” the chief minister said.
