A person has been arrested by the GST officers as reported by the finance ministry on Friday. The person has been charged with running several fake firms. He has also been accused of passing fake ITC worth Rs.491 crore. The Gurugram Zonal Unit (GZU) of the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) has investigated his place thoroughly. The premises of the arrested individual was proven to have provided cloud storage facilities to various people from across India. It was their place for carrying out their operations from distant locations and also recovered hard disks.
The finance ministry has stated that after examining the information obtained from the hard disk that was being provided by cloud storage, the real identity of the key operative was revealed. The mastermind behind this operation was running 93 fake firms.
When the investigation was conducted by the officials, it was found that most of the firms were non-existent at the provided addresses. The main operative was using cloud storage and the firms were arrested by the officials from Hansi in Haryana on 18 January. The mastermind behind this operative has confessed to the fraudulent activity.
