The GST portal has recently been updated to include new features that will assist taxpayers in tracking their application status for new registrations or clarification documents. Specifically, the portal’s Application Reference Number (ARN) status will now display information regarding the state and centre jurisdiction related to the application. This new feature is expected to be particularly helpful for taxpayers and tax professionals and practitioners who have filed Form GST REG-01 (Application of New Registration) or Form GST REG-04 (Clarification/additional information/document for Registration, Amendment or Cancellation).
With this additional information available, taxpayers will be able to more easily track the progress of their application and ensure that they are following all necessary regulations. Earlier, upon searching an application status based on Application Reference Number (ARN), only the following details were visible: –
1. Form No. (GST REG-01 or GST REG-04)
2. Form Description (Application of New Registration or Clarification/information/document for Amendment)
3. Submission Date
4. Status and
5. Assigned to (Center/State) With the new update, the jurisdiction of the State/Center is also visible for the aid of the tax professionals and taxpayers, along with the aforesaid details. Earlier, the stakeholders had to go to the official CBIC website to verify the jurisdiction.
